Five Great Tips For Selling A Home At The Holidays

It goes against the grain....selling a home around the holidays.  Yet it actually can be a wonderful time of year to try and market your property.  Competitive inventory is generally down, buyers are highly motivated (you're not stomping around in the snow for the fun of it) and homes can look stunning at this time of year.  Here are some things to consider if you are in the midst of this process.  First, light it up!  Less daylight and lots of cloudy days mean that if you use your interior lighting properly you can look much more appealing. Second, smell great! Baking cookies or using mild candles can also give you an edge to the home that's closed up and smells like Uncle Earl's recent visit.  Third, decorate! Yes, do decorate but be subtle and don't drown the prospective buyer in your holiday experience.  Fourth...give them Summer!  If you have seasonal pictures this is the time to have them out and available.  You'll be the only one who does.  Finally....keep it clear!  Make sure walkways and sidewalks are easily navigable for people to get into your home.  Here's one more note for end of year home sellers....the market's improving!  We've seen more and more companies moving people this December as the economy continues to improve.  Now may be the best time for you to get the value you're hoping for!
