It's that time of year when deadlines for taking Hamilton County property tax exemptions on taxes paid in 2012 are near. While most people know of the mortgage and homestead tax deduction there are a number of others that can provide property tax relief for homeowners. Most importantly you as an east Carmel homeowner need to make absolutely sure that the right exemptions are in place before 12.31. You can go to Hamilton County's web site and check your status or reapply for your exemptions if they aren't in place (refinancings can often wash them off).
