An impressive visitor stopped by the EOK home offices off of east Main Street and Maplecrest Drive yesterday. This Pileated Woodpecker hasn't been seen much since April when the leaves filled in but the draw of a new batch of suet was too hard to refuse. This bird is young with full grown adult Pileateds reaching 16 to 18 inches in height. No doubt we'll see many more of these types of visitors in the coming months as cover is thin and food more scarce.
