While the State Fair stage collapse didn't happen directly in our back yard, we know of numerous friends and east Carmel residents who were at last night's Sugarland show. One of them had been in the VIP paddock where the stage collapsed only moments before but had chosen to leave. Others had taken shelter in the underground tunnel and several more were helpless witness to it all in the grandstand. Regardless of where this happened it no doubt will affect us all in some way. Our prayers go to the families of those who were lost and injured. For the rest of us it will serve as a moment of reflection of how easy it is to take things for granted....and how quickly they can disappear. Let's face it. We in the 033 pretty much live in Disneyland....a wonderful area to call home. We worry about such heady topics as citywide waste removal the performing arts budget. Today...if even for a moment, it's probably a good time to consider the bigger picture. (photo courtesy of @edsmall)
