Hawkish

Yet another east Carmel resident is in eager anticipation for Spring.  This sharp shinned hawk was perched along the perimeter of Prairie View Sunday looking for it's next meal.  These are rarer in more populated parts of Indiana and in fact it's the first sharp shinned we've seen.  It's not unusual for this breed to be seen at a feeder if food is scarce (and the golfers are out of season).

Carmel Clay Schools....Doing Well By Doing Good!

One Carmel Elementary School performed 'surgery.'  One CC School raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for a great local cause and a virtuoso performance by a Carmel Choir propelled them to a regional competition victory last month.  Read all about it in this edition of CCS 'Good News' which you can see HERE. Oh....as we watch gas prices skyrocket, you can also check out how much energy has been saved by CCS this year.....a pretty remarkable number!

Excellence Defined

Rarely does anyone, individually or collectively succeed at the level that the Carmel High School swim team has over the past two plus decades. In winning another state championship this year and having secured the national championship in 2011, the CHS girls have achieved at a legendary level.   It's going to be pretty hard for some people to write a negative headline about an effort like this in Carmel.  Ladies....congratulations...just incredible.  Read ESPN's salute HERE.

Men In Trees.....

Nothing like an early Spring to get ahead on the yard work.  Some 40 feet up in that large Tulip Poplar is private contractor Mike Dollar who took the tree down to the ground recently near east Main Street and Keystone Parkway.  Mike did a GREAT job at the East Of Keystone home offices and can be reached at 317.514.4717.  Yes....we WILL have him back shortly for more work...he was that good!  (click on the picture to enlarge).

There are currently 206 homes for sale in the 46033.  Since January 1 of 2012 to 2/23, 40 homes have gone under contract. A Gray Morning.....

So we all needed a little more time to get to work or school in the 46033 today.  Around 3:30 A.M. a northbound passenger car lost control on Gray near the south entrance of Kingswood (11200 block).  After striking a huge power pole on the west side of Gray in front of the Morgan Estate, the vehicle careened across the road and came to rest on top of a Bradford pear on the east side of Gray.  The actual damage to the power poles was caused by the force of the car creating a whip affect between the two poles when it hit the southern most tower. The driver (UPDATE - driver lives in Bayhill and was returning home from Boad Ripple) suffered minor injuries despite the major damage to the car.  Duke energy officials on site told EAST OF KEYSTONE that it would be at least 3:00 this afternoon and possibly longer before the pole and line replacement was complete and Gray Road was reopened.  Thanks to Marcus from the Kingswood HOA for helping out on the details.
